How to get to Aix-les-Bains?

By plane: 3 airports

  • Lyon St Exupéry: connection via shuttle bus, taxi, or car rental.
  • Geneva: Train with a connection at Culoz or car rental.
  • Chambéry: Flights from England during the winter season.

By car: direct access via the highway

Aix-les-Bains is easily accessible via the A41 highway, which connects Geneva to Grenoble, passing through Annecy and Chambéry.

  • From Lyon: around 1h20 via the A43, then the A41.
  • From Annecy: 30 minutes via the A41.
  • From Geneva: around 1 hour.
  • From Chambéry: 20 minutes.

 

Many parking lots (both free and paid) are available in town, as well as a large park-and-ride at the northern entrance.

By train: the easy and fast solution

The SNCF station Aix-les-Bains – Le Revard is ideally located in the city center, just a few minutes’ walk from accommodations and the lakeside. It is served by TGV and TER lines:

  • From Paris: about 3 hours by TGV with a connection in Chambéry.
  • From Lyon: 1h15 by direct TER.
  • From Geneva: 1h30 by train or via shuttle buses.

Good to know: taxis, city buses, and car rentals are available at the station exit.

A well-served city locally

Once you’re here, you can easily get around on foot, by city bus (Ondéa network), or by bike (rental via Agence Vélodéa). The city center is compact, pleasant, and close to the main tourist attractions: lake, thermal baths, casino, shops, restaurants…
